December 22nd Blog: Gratitude for What is Always Important & Happy Holidays

Dear Friends:

I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays with family and friends. I’ve been lucky to be able to visit my older daughter and her family for a week.

When the world is in chaos, family and friends can provide a sense of security and stability. Caring for my mother, now 97-1/2, is difficult at times, but family was always important to her as was taking pleasure in many small things like watching the world from her porch. She rarely complains about anything. I often reflect upon the chaos in the society of her youth with the Great Depression and WWII as well as the hard personal challenges she successfully faced during her life.

Now we are facing somewhat similar chaos, but have our own current version with AI and a federal government actively hostile to even more groups than it was 85 years ago when my

mother was a child. I think many of us are finding that the traditional bonds of community, family and friends are where we turn for emotional support and that’s a good thing. Those bonds have carried many generations through tough times. And, for inspiration, I’m so heartened by how many of us are turning to the principles of this nation’s founding. Those principles inspire us yet again to demand the best from a government of, by and for the people. It all gives me a lot of hope for the future despite the bleak moment we are in.

As we finish out the year, I send many thank-yous to my readers who have generously contributed to keep this blog going for 2026. Once I am back home, you will receive a proper (and old fashioned) thank you.

And if you haven’t donated, would you consider a small contribution? Our total budget is about $3,000/year. Townley and Austin receive small stipends and the website host has

a fee. January will start our second year. The funds left from my campaign account which was transferred to this blog will run out before the end of 2026.

Austin, Townley and I wish you the very best for the holiday season and 2026!

Yours in peaceful resistance,

Libby
