Dear Friends:
Something special is happening this Saturday, June 14: No Kings Day.
Resistance, at its core, is not just about shouting back. It’s about showing up, again and again, in ways that remind those in power that the people are watching. Resistance can look like a banner on a bridge, a woman with a sign and her dog at a Kentucky intersection, or a group of veterans gathering in quiet defiance. None of these moments happened because someone told them to. They happened because people decided to act.
And when those small acts begin to connect with one another, something bigger takes
shape.

No Kings Day is part of that movement. What began as spontaneous, isolated actions is becoming a coordinated, collective refusal to let authoritarianism take root. The people planning these events are not celebrities or insiders. They are neighbors, teachers, veterans, and parents. They are you.
It’s exciting to see how fast this is growing.

Just this week, the DC Media Group published a great piece on how fast this resistance movement is growing. On June 10, banners appeared across dozens of bridges in cities across the country. None of the banner drops were announced in advance. No speeches. No credit-seeking. Just messages like “No Kings in America” and “Nobody Marches Us Into Fascism” fluttering above rush hour traffic.
Tomorrow, June 14, multiple events are taking place here in the DMV: I recommend using Mobilize to find events near you, such as WofA’s Hands Across Arlington: https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/
If you need a reason to come out, I encourage you to read this moving piece from a veteran who joined the June 6 gathering: No Act Too Small.

The Arlington County Police have already issued guidance to help ensure events remain peaceful and protected. You can read that here: https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/VAARLINGTON/bulletins/3e4820c
This moment is not about any one group or individual. It’s about us. And I believe we are at our best when we choose courage over comfort, action over apathy.
So I hope you’ll join. Bring a friend. Bring a sign. Bring your values.
Yours in peaceful resistance,
Libby
