September 13 Blog: Condemn All Violence & Andrea Pitzer at "We Are All DC"

Dear Friends:

I imagine all of us have been processing the assassination of Charlie Kirk in Utah on Wednesday. This is a time for everyone to stand for non-violence and stay courageous.

Our banner group did not go out that evening as we absorbed the shock of the moment and what it might mean. We were out Thursday, 9/11 with this message. Those of us in my generation remember the 60s when we lost 3 great leaders to assassination and the ensuing violence, damage and pain that caused. Even more of us remember 9/11. Violence could destroy everything we love.

As we go into the weekend, I am pleased to hear Governor Cox respond to the moment as every leader should. The Regime, of course, is not. MAGA really has become a death cult.

Governor Cox: “We can return violence with violence, we can return hate with hate, and that’s the problem with political violence — is it metastasizes,” Mr. Cox said: “Because we can always point the finger at the other side. And at some point, we have to find an off-ramp, or it’s going to get much, much worse."

“History will dictate if this is a turning point for our country,” Mr. Cox continued, “but every single one of us gets to choose right now if this is a turning point for us.”

I’ll also recommend this podcast “What do you stand for? Virtue signaling, the hustle, and why speaking out matters” by Andrea Pitzer. She speaks on the importance of signaling your values in this very dark time. My bridge team is a little nervous, but we are determined; as are good people all over this country. In dark times, good people light candles and our combined light can save us.

Finally, please share this blog and the link to my webpage (https://www.libbyslocallist.com/) with anyone you think might find it useful or interesting. As we enter this next phase, it’s important that there are as many networks of good information as possible. Townley, Austin and I are trying to do our small part to help with this blog.

Yours in peaceful, and persistent, protest,

Libby
